Yards Creek Scout Reservation is located up by the Deleware Water Gap nestled into one of the most beautiful areas of New Jersey.

The cabin we have reserved is actually the Camp Dining Hall and can hold up to 100 campers. The scheduled portion of the campout will be from Saturday AM through Sunday AM. We have reserved the cabin from a Friday night check-in until Sunday midday checkout. We will prepare common meals for Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast. Some attendees will arrive Friday evening but if you have never been to Yards Creek before it will be difficult as you will be arriving after dark. We set the arrival time for Saturday morning by 10:00 AM with the opening ceremony starting at 11:00 AM Eat breakfast before you come to camp, as the 1st group meal will be lunch on Saturday. Meal and Porta-Jon costs are estimated at $12.00/adult and $10.00/youth - depending on attendance.  The Pack does not cover the meals for the scout but does cover the cabin rental.
The cabin is in the center of Yards Creek Scout Reservation, a short walk from the parking lot. We have at least 2 BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) trained leaders attending. We will occupy our time at camp with at least one hike, a chance to visit the scout rifle range, the archery range and our own impromptu tour of the facilities. A favorite last year was a night hike.....it was so clear that you could almost touch the stars.
The cabin is rustic, with fireplaces at both ends of the room. The cabin will not have running water so the cooking will be done on the porch (under cover from the weather) No showers or regular bathrooms are available. Latrines are a short walk from the cabin but we will spend a few bucks and get a Port-a-Potty that will be next to the cabin- One his and one hers.
Who can attend? Registered scouts in Pack 98 are invited, and one parent/guardian must attend per family of cubs. Subject to availability we can include siblings and the 2nd parent. Accommodations can easily be made for gender issues to be compliant with the ‘Guide to Safe Scouting’ rules.
The rifle range and archery range can be used subject to availability of the equipment and trained adults. We have the trained adults and we will reserve the equipment. This was a highlight at the 2008 campout. Personal BB guns and bows are not allowed on scout ranges, we must use the council supplied equipment.
We also would like to have some activities for the scouts. Any suggestions are very welcome. Possibly something to earn a rank requirement or maybe a belt loop or pin.

As an added event - Troop 90 will be having an investiture ceremony for the Web II's that are joining Troop 90. They will have the ceremony on Saturday evening at the Ceremony Bridge in the field by the lake.

Suggestions for what to bring
Suggestions for what to wear

The Weather dictates a scouts clothing not his activities !!

Directions to Yards Creek Scout Reservation
Please note:
Last year it was quite cold so I suggest packing accordingly. Also, if you have a cot - bring it. There is only a limited amount to go around. Otherwise I suggest a sleeping pad that will insulate you from the ground. The cabin floor is cement. Cardboard also works well as an insulator.

You will be able to drive to the cabin / dining hall to unload your gear.
Only 3 or 4 cars at a time. There will be someone at the parking lot coordinating the drop off so pull into the parking lot first.
Each Family needs to bring  1 gallon of water
Be careful not to wake one of the local residents..............
A note from someone who's been there:

      Cold Weather Clothing
                                                       Layers-Layers-Layers
and no cotton

Top - 3 layers - long underwear or long sleeve t-shirt (Silk, polyester or polypropelene are your best bet), fleece top or sweatshirt, and a jacket (lined) to block the moisture and wind.

Bottom- long underwear or PJ bottoms and lined pants (nylon) or ski pants that are insulated and repel moisture. Jeans or cotton garments are not great to wear when its damp or cold. Once they get wet ,they stay wet and are very cold. Silk, polyester or polypropelene are your best bet.

Feet – 2 pairs of socks (thin silk/poly inner and outer wool, polypropelene, Thoro). Warm waterproof boots are a must. Wool is your best friend here as an outer layer.

Hat – A fleece or wool hat to keep the warmth in. Most of your body heat escapes thru your head. And cover those ears.

Gloves – warm and insulated.(fleece gloves are inexpensive, lightweight and very warm)

Poncho or Rain Suit- in case of rain.

Try to layer in light and non-restrictive clothing.
